Beginners' Courses
If you've tried out archery and think you're likely to become hooked, the next step is to do a Beginners' Course.
You need to complete such a course before you can apply for membership of Nonsuch (or any other GNAS-affiliated club).
At Nonsuch we run a course of 6 lessons, each lasting roughly 2-hours including a coffee break. We will provide you with all the equipment you will need for the course so the only cost to you will be the course fee. We even give you your own tab, arm guard, finger sling, and exercise stretch band and these items are yours to keep. Our enthusiastic team of experienced archers will teach you how to shoot a bow and you will be amazed at how quickly you will improve. There will also be instruction on important topics such as safety, buying equipment, scoring, handicap and classification schemes and much more. We will demonstrate different types of bow including Olympic Recurve, Compound and traditional Longbow. At the end of the course you'll receive a certificate, and will be given the opportunity to apply for membership.
We typically run these in the spring, starting a few weeks after the Open Day. Our courses are limited to small numbers and are usually over-subscribed. If you think you would like to attend one of our courses it is worth registering your interest as early as possible.
We are also hoping to be able to run some extra Indoor-based courses in the early months of 2012. Please contact us for more information.
Please note, in accordance with our policy on juniors, we can't accept applications from anyone under 10 years old, and all juniors must be accompanied at all times by an adult.
